Nepal set 141-run target against UAE

Kathmandu: Nepal have posted a 141-run target against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their Super Six clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia Pacific Qualifiers on Sunday.

Opener Aasif Sheikh anchored the innings with a composed half-century as Nepal reached 140-6 in their allotted 20 overs at Turf 1 of the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman.

Aasif struck four boundaries and a six in his 51off 47-ball knock before being bowled by Dhruv Parashar in the 16th over, departing as the third wicket.
He shared a 56-run opening stand with Kushal Bhurtel, who made 28 off 26 balls, hitting two fours and a six.

Gulshan Jha added late impetus with a brisk 14 off 5 balls featuring two boundaries and a six. Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 20 off 19.
Kushal Malla scored 10 off 1 while Sundeep Jora and Sompal Kami remained unbeaten on 4 and 6 runs, respectively.

UAE’s bowling effort was evenly shared, with six different bowlers picking up a wicket each.
Nepal had earlier defeated Kuwait by 58 runs and Japan by five wickets in their group stage matches.
