Hari Khadka appointed head coach of Nepal national football team
Kathmandu: Former national captain Hari Khadka has been appointed as the head coach of the Nepal national men’s football team, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) announced on Friday.
ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai handed Khadka his appointment letter at the football governing body’s headquarters in Satdobato.
Khadka, who previously served as the head coach of Nepal’s senior women’s national team, is currently ANFA’s Technical Director.
His appointment comes a day after it was revealed that UEFA Pro License holder Matt Ross had resigned from the position on Thursday.
In a Facebook post, ANFA stated: “The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has appointed Mr. Hari Khadka as the Head Coach of the Nepal National Football Team for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2027. We extend our best wishes for his successful tenure with the national team.”
Under Khadka’s leadership, Nepal will face Malaysia on November 18 in the third round of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Although Nepal is already out of contention for qualification, the team still has two matches remaining in the campaign, having lost all four of its previous fixtures in the qualifiers.
