Kathmandu: The third edition of the Himalayan Futsal Gold Cup 2083 is set to take place on September 24 and 25 at Royal Nepal Futsal, Pepsicola, Bhaktapur.

At a press conference on Sunday, organiser Himalayan Football Club (HFC) informed that the tournament is expected to feature more than 40 teams from Kathmandu and other districts of the country, including a deaf team from Sunsari.

The matches will be played in a knockout format.

The tournament carries a total prize purse of Rs465,000, with the winners and runners-up taking home Rs300,000 and Rs100,000, respectively.

The individual awards include fair play team (Rs20,000), best player (Rs15,000), best goalkeeper (Rs10,000), emerging player (Rs10,000), best manager (Rs5,000) and best coach (Rs5,000).

The estimated total cost of the tournament is Rs2 million.

According to HFC President Binod Karki, teams travelling from outside the capital city will be provided with food, accommodation and necessary hospitality.

Karki added: “The tournament aims to provide a competitive platform and exposure to emerging futsal players while contributing to the development of Nepali futsal. It will feature organised fixtures, regular match updates, digital coverage, photography and videography.”

The tournament will also incorporate a fundraising campaign for families affected by recent flash floods, landslides and other natural disasters. Funds collected during the tournament will be directed towards relief and support for affected families.

The organisers have described the tournament as “More Than a Game – It’s a Futsal Experience,” with an emphasis on competition, sportsmanship, youth development, friendship and social responsibility.

HFC Secretary Bidhya Dangal called for corporate sponsorship, adding that the club was collecting funds from individual members and well-wishers to manage the budget.

Host HFC won the previous two editions.
