Police off to flying start in Lumbini Cup women’s football

Kathmandu: The departmental team Nepal Police Club were off to a flying start with a comfortable 4-0 win over visiting Siliguri FC on Saturday in the International Invitational Lumbini Cup Women’s Football Tournament at Nepalgunj Stadium, Banke.
Nirmala Upadhyaye scored twice for Police while Meena Deuwa and captain Niru Thapa added one each with all goals coming in the first half.
Meena gave an early 13th minute lead to Police before Nirmala doubled the advantage five minutes later. They were 3-0 up in the 22nd with Niru scoring from the penalty. Nirmala scored her second individual goal to widen the margins during the half an hour mark.
In the opening match on Friday. Tribhuvan Army defeated the Sudurpaschim Province Football Association 4–0.
Home team Banke XI will compete against the Rautahat District Football Association on Sunday. The event is organised by Antaral in collaboration with Banke District Football Association. The winner will receive NPR 505,555 and the runner-up will get NPR 250,000.
