Myanmar off to winning start, beat Lebanon 3-1

Kathmandu: Myanmar made a hard fought start to their International Women’s Championship campaign despite a 3-1 victory over Lebanon with all four goals coming in the second half at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, Monday.

Win Theingi Tun, Shwe Yee Tun and San Thaw Thaw were on targets for Myanmar while Layla Iskandar netted for Lebanon.

Following a goalless first half, Win Theingi Tun broke the deadlock for Myanmar in the 57th minute with a scorcher from the edge of area. Layla Iskandar brough the game on level terms three minutes later scoring at an open net. She dribbled past Myanmar goalie Myo Mya Mya Nyein who was outside the 18-yard box and slotted at the post.

Myanmar scored twice in quick succession to survive scare and walk away with victory. Shwe Yee Tun headed to make it 2-1 for Myanmar in the 73rd and San Thaw Thaw sealed the victory two minutes later with a third goal.

Nepal will vie against Kyrgyzstan in the late fixture of the day under floodlights.
