Twin wins for Xavier, Herald in HISSAN Basketball opening day

Kathmandu: Xavier and Herald International College secured double victories on the first day of the HISSAN Central Inter-college Basketball Championship 2025 that kicked off on Monday.

In Group ‘A’ matches held on Monday, Xavier defeated Hrit Academy 58–35 with Pritam Thing contributing 10 points.

In the second match, Xavier pulled off a convincing 54–13 victory over Kathmandu World School with a score riding on 15 points of Asim Thapa.

In Group ‘C’, Herald secured their first win against Kathmandu Valley College 53–28 and followed it up with a 42–15 victory over Jaya Multiple College.

In other matches, Times International College defeated Hrit Academy 43–11, while DAV outplayed Himalayan College 38–10. Greenfield College secured a 45–31 victory against Kathmandu Valley College, and Bernhardt College won 51–17 against Himalayan College.

The tournament, which will run until Wednesday, features participation from 16 colleges across the valley.

The participating teams are divided into four groups with Group ‘A’ consisting of Times, Hrit, Xavier, and Kathmandu World School.  Group ‘B’ includes DAV, Greenfield, CCRC, and Nightingale College. Jaya, Golden College, Nightingale School, Herald, and Kathmandu Valley College make up Group ‘C’ while Group’D’ comprise of Himalayan College, Laligurans College, Angel Heart and Bernhardt College.

The winners and runners -up from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
