APF set up Police showdown in Lumbin Women’s Cup

Kathmandu: Departmental side Nepal APF Club grabbed a comfortable 3–0 victory over Rautahat District Football Association to set up a title clash of the International Invitational Lumbini Cup Women’s Football tournament against Nepal Police Club.

Anita KC, Sabita Rana Magar and Nisha Thokar were on target for APF in the second semifinal played at Nepalgunj Stadium in Banke, Wednesday.

Two departmental rivals – APF and Police will vie for the trophy on Friday. Police had defeated the other departmental side Tribhuvan Army Club in a sudden death penalty shootout in the first semifinal on Tuesday.

APF studded with Nepali international players were made to struggle to break the deadlock. Anita opened the scoring in the 73rd minute before Nisha doubled the advantage in the 80th. Sabita sealed the victory with a goal in the last minute of the regulation period.

It will be the fourth final of the season for APF, who had previously claimed the title of the National Women’s League, Ilam Gold Cup and the Chitwan Gold Cup.
