Kathmandu: Nepal have been knocked out of semifinal from the SAFF U-19 Championship after a 2-1 defeat against defending champions Bangladesh in Yupia, India.

Ashiqur Rahman and captain Nazmul Huda Faysal were on target for Bangladesh while Sujan Dangol scored for Nepal with all three goals coming after the break.

Bangladesh broke the deadlock in the 74th minute through Ashiqur and captain Nazmul doubled the advantage seven minutes later. Though Sujan pulled one back for Nepal three minutes from time they ran out of time to score another goal.

Nepal had advanced to the semifinals as runners-up from Group ‘B’ finishing India while Bangladesh secured top finish in Group ‘A’.

Bangladesh will now face the winner of the second semifinal between India and Maldives in the title clash.
