Nepal women football team to leave for Thailand Friendlies

Kathmandu: Nepali national women’s football squad will leave for upcoming Friendly matches against Thailand on Wednesday.

The 23-member team led by coach Rajendra Tamang will play two games against Thailand—a behind-closed-doors training match on May 30, followed by an official international friendly on June 2.

Captained by Anjila Tumbapo Subba, the matches are played to fine tune the team’s preparation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 Qualifiers, to begin on May 4.

Coach Tamang said that they have made Thailand focused preparations. “If we put up impressive performance it will put pressure against opponents in the AFC Qualifiers,” he said.

Thailand are placed at 47th spot in FiFA rankings against 99 of Nepal.

Nepal has been drawn into Group ‘F’ of the Qualifiers alongside Laos, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan.
