Nepal drawn with Thailand & Turkmenistan in AFC Women’s U-17 Qualifiers
Kathmandu: Nepal have been drawn along with hosts Thailand and Turkmenistan in Group ‘F’ of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers set to take from October 13 to 17.
In the draw held at AFC House, Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, altogether 27 teams were divided into eight groups — three groups consisting of four teams five groups of three teams each. The matches will be played under the single round-robin format.
The winners of all eight groups will progress into the 12-team finals where they will be joined by four Asian teams — North Korea, South Korea, Japan and China — who have automatically qualified for 2025 FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup. The finals will be held from April 30 to May 17.
Group ‘A’ consists of the Philippines, Malaysia, hosts Tajikistan and Syria while Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait and hosts Saudi Arabia will vie in Group ‘B’. The Group C challenge will involve Indonesia, hosts Myanmar, Mongolia and debutants Macau. Group ‘D’ includes Vietnam, Hong Kong, China and Guam.
Australia headline Group ‘E’ with hosts Singapore and Northern Mariana Islands while Group ‘G’ features India, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic. South Asian side Bangladesh will compete in Group ‘H’ along with Chinese Taipei and hosts Jordan.
