Nepal thump West Indies to clinch historic T20I Series
Kathmandu: Nepal claimed a thumping 90-run win over the West Indies scripting a history in Sharjah on Monday as they sealed maiden Twenty20 International series victory against a full-member side. The triumph gave Nepal an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match affair.
Opener Aasif Sheikh and middle-order batter Sundeep Jora struck fluent half-centuries to guide Nepal to 173-6 before bowling out the two-time World T20 champions for 83 runs in 17.1 overs, thanks to disciplined bowling and excellent fielding.

Having celebrated their first-ever win over a Test-playing side in the opening match on Saturday, Nepal went one step further, clinching their first T20I series victory against a full-member team of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Batting first, Nepal endured early hiccups slipping to 43-3. Nepal lost opener Kushal Bhurtel (2), captain Rohit Paudel (3) and Kushal Malla (7) cheaply. But Aasif and Sundeep steadied the innings with a magnificent 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket, turning a shaky start into a formidable total.
In the final overs, Aadil Alam provided late fireworks with 11 off five balls, while Gulshan Jha added a run-a-ball six to push the score beyond 170. For the West Indies, Akeal Hosein and Kyle Mayers picked up two wickets apiece.

The West Indies, chasing 174, never found momentum. Their top order crumbled under relentless pressure as openers Jewel Andrew (2) and Mayers (6) along with Keacy Carty (1) departed with the score at 23-3. Only Jason Holder (21), Ackeem Auguste (17) and Amir Jangoo (16) managed double figures, but their resistance was brief.
Aadil Alam, who returned to national fold almost after three years following match fixing allegations, starred with 4-24 in his four-over spell. Kushal Bhurtel claimed 3-16, including a maiden in just 2.1 overs.
The third and final match of the series will be played on Tuesday in Sharjah.
