ANFA ‘Acting President’ suspends General Secretary Rai,

Kathmandu: All Football Association (ANFA)Senior Vice President Bir Bahadur Khadka has suspended General Secretary Kiran Rai on Sunday in his capacity as Acting President.

Khadka made such decisions claiming that he automatically assumes the role of Acting President as per ANFA statute in the absence of President Pankaj Bikram Nembang.

Both — President and General Secretary are currently in Saudi Arabia — to attend the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) program.
President and General Secretary could not be reached for comments despite multiple attempts to contact them over phone.

Deputy General Secretary Badri Bhattarai has been assigned Acting General Secretary.

Although President Nembang did not officially assign Khadka as Acting President before leaving for Saudi, Khadka maintains that the ANFA statute clearly states that the Senior Vice President automatically assumes the Acting President’s responsibilities in the President’s absence.

Khadka has sought a written clarification from Rai on Tuesday with a three-day ultimatum after Rai announced cancellation of home and away format top tier league approved by the annual general assembly on May 8 in Dhulikhel.
