Kathmandu: Nepal confirmed women’s kabaddi bronze for the second consecutive Asian Games in a row after advancing to the semifinals with a 34–25 victory over Sri Lanka on Thursday.

They could be assured of at least a silver if they beat Group ’A’ toppersIndia on Friday.

Nepal, who finished runners-up in Group B, led 19–13 at halftime before adding 15 points in the second half. Sri Lanka managed 12 points after the break.

Nepal finished the group stage with two wins and one defeat to book their place in the last four. They had defeated Thailand 46-43 on Tuesday and lost to Chinese Taipei 37-18 on Wednesday in their group matches.

They had previously won bronze in women’s kabaddi at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
