Lumbini crowned champions in National School Athletics

Kathmandu: Lumbini Province emerged victorious in athletics at the U-14 National School Games on Monday clinching four gold medals.

Karnali Province claim second place with 2 gold and 5 silver medals in the event organised by National Sports Council (NSC).

Gandaki Province and Madhesh Province finished joint third securing 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals each. Among 12 gold medals in total, Bagmati and Sudurpaschim each won one gold each.

ISix gold medals were on offer — featured six gold medal events, equally split between boys’ and girls’ categories

Hemaraj Chaudhary of Gandaki secured gold in boys’ 200m sprint clocking 24.9 seconds in the second and final day of athletics at Dasharath Stadium. Ayush Chaudhary of Madhesh and Nitesh Bhattarai of Koshi secured silver and bronze respectively.

The girls’ 200m saw Anuja Tharu Chaudhary of Lumbini secure in 31.4 seconds. Asmita Lamgade of Koshi and Varsha Yonjan of Madhesh finished second and third respectively.

In the boys’ 800m Hasta Sunar of Bagmati claimed gold medal with a time of 2 minutes 07.4 seconds. Bivek Bogati of Karnali won silver and Nitesh Bhattarai of Koshi added bronze.

The girls’ 800m saw Chandani Pasi of Lumbini secure the top spot in 2 minutes 47.3 seconds. Juhi Rai of Koshi finished second and Rachana Bohara of Sudurpaschim settled third.

Madhesh secured gold in boys’ 4x100m relay followed by Koshi and Gandaki. The girls’ 4x100m relay saw Lumbini, Karnali, and Koshi clinched the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.

Basketball

Koshi claimed boys’ gold and Bagmati bagged girls trophy In 3×3 basketball events.

Koshi defeated Madhesh 17-12 in the boys’ final at the NSC covered hall in Tripureshwor. Lumbini secured third place. Bagmati thumped Karnali 15-3 to win the girls’ championship. Koshi finished third.
