Prime Minister Oli fetes international medalists

The Government of Nepal on Tuesday distributed cash incentives to the international medal winner team, players, coaches and officials at Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli handed over cash prizes to the national women’s football team that finished runners up at the SAFF Women’s Championship last year, gold medalist team of CAVA Beach Volleyball and medalists of the Asian Karate Championships.

Each players of the national women’s football squad were given cash prize of Rs 300,000 each. Host Nepal had finished runners up losing 2-1 to Bangladesh, who retained the crown for the second time, at the sub continental tournament held from October 17 to 30, 2024.

Coach Rajendra Tamang was feted with Rs 200,000 while assistant coach Bhagwati Thapa and goalkeeping coach Binod Maharjan were given Rs 60,000 each. Manager Brinda Dewan and physiotherapist bagged purse of Rs 120,000 each.

Karateka Arika Gurung was awarded with Rs 600,000 for securing silver medal at the 20th Asian Karate Championships held in Hangzhou, China, from September 19 to 22. Coach Kushal Shrestha was rewarded with Rs 180,000.

Nepali women’s beach volleyball squad–comprising of Kamala Pun and Manisha Chaudhary–that had won gold at CAVA Beach Volleyball Championships in Bhutan were feted with Rs600,00 each. Coach Rupesh Kumar Bista was given Rs 300,000. The men’s squad of Man Bahadur Shrestha and Dil Sunar, who had finished runner up in the same tournament were rewarded with Rs 300,000 each.

The players were feted for their contributions in enhancing Nepal’s fame at the international arena. No tax had been deducted from the cash prize following instructions by Prime Minister Oli.
