Thumping victory for Sudurpaschim in PM Women’s T20
KATHMANDU: Sudurpaschim Province registered a thumping 10-wicket victory over Karnali Province in their group stage match of Prime Minister Cup Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament at the Fapla Cricket ground in Dhangadhi on Friday.
In the match reduced to five over per side due to wet outfield, the home team Sudurpaschim achieved the meager target of 21 runs in nine balls against the helpless Karnali side.
The second win lifted Sudurpaschim to second place with four points from two matches, one point behind APF Club, who have five points from three games in Group A. Karnali are at the bottom of the table with one point from two games.
Sent to bat first, Karnali struggled to gain any momentum and were restricted at 20-7 n their allotted 5 overs. Shruti Budha (not out 8) and Rama Budathoki (6) contributed runs for Karnali.
Sudurpaschim bowler Aashika Mahara, declared player-of-the-match, claimed three wickets and Kabita Kunwar grabbed two.
In response, Sudur Paschim made light work of the low target. Openers Kabita Kunwar and Manisha Bohara ensured a comfortable chase, finishing the game in just 1.3 overs. Kabita Kunwar led the charge with 14 off six balls, including two boundaries, while Manisha Bohara chipped in with 5 off 4 balls. Their combined effort, along with a couple of extras, sealed the victory with 21 balls to spare.
