Thailand pull off commanding victory over Netherlands in Nepal Women T20I Tri-Series
Kathmandu: Thailand made a solid start to Nepal Women T20I Tri-Series campaign with a convincing eight-wicket victory over the Netherlands at the TU Ground in Kirtipur on Friday.
Thailand made 125-2 in 18 overs in their run chase after Netherlands, who opted to bat first, posted 122-6 in the allotted 20 overs.
With the outcome the Netherlands faced their first defeat of the tournament after the second match. They had defeated hosts Nepal by 20 runs in the inaugural match on Thursday.

The Dutch side lost their openers cheaply as Phebe Molkenboer (2 ) and Setrre Kalis (4) were dismissed with just 14 runs on board in the second over. Captain Babette de Leede anchored the innings with a half century. She scored 52 off 50 balls, that included eight boundaries. Iris Zwilling contributed 28 runs off 35 balls. The duo shared a 76-run partnership for the fourth wicket before the captain was dismissed.
None other Dutch batters managed to touch double digit figures.
Thailand Thipatcha Putthawong returned with figures of 4-0-27-2 and Onnicha Kamchomphu claimed one wicket.
Chasing the moderate target, wicketkeeper-batter Nannapat Koncharoenkai slammed an unbeaten 56 off 50 balls that included four boundaries. She was also named player-of-the-match. Opener Apisara Suwanchonrathi played a quickfire knock of 28 runs from 24 deliveries with four hits to the fences.
Natthakan Chantham remained unbeaten on 23 runs off 25 that included two boundaries and a six.
The Netherlands bowlers Iris Zwilling (1/24) and Caroline de Lange (1/22) picked up a wicket each.
Nepal will vie against Thailand in their next match on Saturday at the same venue. The tournament featuring three teams is being played in the triple round robin league format.
