Scotland set 171-run target for Nepal
Mumbai: Michael Jones struck a fluent half-century as Scotland set Nepal a 171-run target in their final Group ‘C’ match of the ICC Men’s World T20 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Invited to bat first, Scotland made a flying start, finishing on 170-7 after their openers Michael Jones and George Munsey put on an 80-run partnership for the first wicket. The pair collected 52 runs in the six-over powerplay to lay a solid foundation.
Both Scotland and Nepal are already out of the Super Eight race in the five-team group. West Indies and England have progressed to the next stage, while Scotland, Italy and Nepal have exited at the group stage.

Nepal have suffered defeats in all three of their previous matches — losing to England by four runs, Italy by 10 wickets, and Zimbabwe by nine wickets. Scotland, meanwhile, defeated Italy by 73 runs but lost to West Indies by 35 runs and to England by five wickets.
Jones top-scored with 71 off 45 balls, laced with eight fours and three sixes. He was bowled by medium pacer Sompal Kami with Scotland at 132-2 in 15.2 overs.
Nepal made the breakthrough on the final delivery of the 10th over when George Munsey was dismissed for 27 off 29 balls, including four boundaries. Captain Rohit Paudel had him caught by Sundeep Jora, who made his T20 World Cup debut replacing Karan KC.
After dismissing Scottish highest scorer Michael, Sompal also removed Brandon McMullen two ball later. , He was earlier dropped by Jora on 15 in the 13th over. McMullen went on to score 25 off 15 balls, hitting a four and a six.

Captain Richie Berrington (10) and Mark Watt (not out 10) were the other Scottish batters to reach double figures.
Sompal was the pick of Nepal’s bowlers, claiming 3-25 in his four overs. Nandan Yadav took two wickets for 34 runs, while Rohit Paudel and Kushal Bhurtel claimed a wicket each.
