Nayabasti stun contenders Birgunj

Kathmandu: Second from bottom Nayabasti Youth Club stunned title contenders Birgunj United 1-0 with a fading moment goal to pull off their first victory in the Martyrs Memorial ‘B’ Division Football League on Tuesday.
Shree Krishna Tamang scored an all-important goal against third placed Birgunj deep into stoppage time at the artificial turf of ANFA Complex, Satdobato.
With first win after the fifth match, Nayabasti leapfrogged to eighth place from 13th in the standings on five points. Birgunj remained unchanged on third place on eight points and missed a chance to level points with second placed Shree Bhagawati Club. Planning Boys, who earlier edged Saraswati Youth Club 3-0 leads the standings on 15 points with cent percent winning streak.
Left unmarked inside the area, Shree Krishna headed to turn a freekick by Jamin Laksham from the right flank.
In the day’s early kick off, a goal each from Sujan Dangol, Saroj Karki and Phaguram Tharu gave Planning Boys a comprehensive victory over Saraswati.
The fifth win from as many games lifted Planning Boys four points clear on top with 15 points. Saraswati, who faced their third defeat, are joint fifth with six points after five matches.
Two matches are scheduled for Wednesday with Jhapa FC vying against RCT in the early kick off (12:15 PM) while Brigade Boys Club will take on Tusal Youth Club in another fixture (3:45 PM).
