Nepal, Afghanistan to vie in U-19 World Cup Qualifier virtual final
Kathmandu: Hosts Nepal and Afghanistan will vie in the virtual final of the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifiers on Saturday for a single spot available from the group for 2026 U-19 World Cup finals. The winner between them will qualify for the 2026 World Cup scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Both Nepal and Afghanistan are undefeated teams in the league rounds and have equal six points each from three games in the five-team contest. But Afghanistan occupy top position on the basis of better run rate.
Nepal defeated Hong Kong by nine wickets on Wednesday, Oman by eight wickets on Monday and UAE by five runs on Sunday on DL method. Afghanistan defeated UAE by 180 runs on DL method Wednesday, Hong Kong and Oman by eight wickets each on Monday and Sunday respectively.
