Aarav, Swastika clinch Citizens Bank singles titles 

Kathmandu: Aarav Samrat Hada and Swastika Bista clinched the singles titles to emerge new champions of the 11th Citizens Bank Tennis Tournament at NSC court in Tripureshwar, Saturday.

Aarav secured men’s singles gold defeating Nishan Shrestha in straight sets of 6–3, 6–2 to claim his third open singles title. He had previously won Bir Ganeshman Singh and Machhapuchhre Tennis golds in open category. Nihal Jung Bahadur Thapa and Rajbir Pradhan secured third places. Pradeep Khadka, the defending champion and also the eighth edition winner, was eliminated in the quarterfinal by Rajbir.

In the women’s singles final, Swastika claimed her first career open title dethroning the last two editions’ champion Abhilasha Bista in straight sets of 6–1, 6–3. Aisha Dolkar Gurung and Jenny Khadka shared third place. 

The top three finishers in both men’s and women’s categories received cash prizes of Rs50,000, Rs25,000 and Rs10,000 each.

Pair of Aarav and Abhilasha had claimed the mixed doubles title on Friday in the event that featured a total of 11 categories.

Other winners of the event

Jitendra Pariyar won the men’s singles above 35 years.
Jitendra and Imal Dixit won the men’s doubles above 35 years.
Kamal Bhandari won the men’s singles above 45 years.
Kamal Bhandari and Sumit Mainali won the men’s doubles above 45 years.
Chandra Shahi won the men’s singles above 55 years.
Chandra Shahi and Degendra Shrestha won the men’s doubles above 55 years.
Dhruba Bahadur Gurung won the men’s singles above 65 years.
Dhir Gurung and Manoj Rana won the men’s doubles above 65 years.

National Sports Council members Kamal Bahadur Bhattarai and Bhan Bahadur Chand, acting president of Nepal Tennis Association Manohardas Mool and Citizens Bank board members Prakash Mainali, Vijay Dhoj Karki and Digbijay Bista among others distributed prizes.
