Patrick De Wilde appointed Nepal women’s football coach

Kathmandu: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday appointed Belgian Patrick De Wilde as the head coach of the Nepali women’s national football team.

ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai handed appointment letter to the UEFA Pro licence coach at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

De Wilde becomes the second-ever head coach to lead the Nepali women’s national team after Australian Gary Phillips who took charge of the team from February 2021 to March 2022.

His appointment was recommended by ANFA’s coach selection committee. Previously, De Wilde served as the head coach of Kathmandu Rayzrs in the Nepal Super League (NSL).

The Nepali women’s national team will compete in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers under his leadership. Nepal is placed in Group ‘F’ along with Uzbekistan, Laos, and Sri Lanka.
