Aditya, Prakriti strike gold in 100m sprint
Kathmandu: Aditya Yadav of Madhesh Province and Prakriti Kafle of Koshi Province clinched gold medals in the 100-meter sprint in the U-14 National School Sports held on Sunday.
Aditya secured the gold in boys’ and Prakriti took top honors in girls’ event at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar.
Aditya completed the race in 11.6 seconds finishing ahead of Surendra Pariyar of Karnali. Ankit Tajpuriya of Koshi took home bronze.
In the girls’ 100-meter event, Prakriti clocked 14.6 seconds to secure the gold. Goma Shahi of Karnali won silver and Prakriti Kafle of Koshi earned bronze.
In the boys’ 400-meter sprint, Ayan Rana of Gandaki clinched gold clocking 55.6 seconds. Rohit Dhami of Sudurpaschim and Priyanshu Shah secured silver and bronze respectively.
In the girls’ 400-meter, Sushma Budha of Karnali claimed gold finishing the distance in 69.3 seconds. Aradhya Chalise of Gandaki and Silbhi Naga of Bagmati secured the silver and bronze.
The boys’ long jump saw Surendra Sunar of Karnali earn gold with a leap of 5.98 meters. Nitesh Gachhadar of Koshi finished second followed by Mohan Pariyar of Sudurpaschim.
In the girls’ long jump, Anuja Tharu Chaudhary jumped 4.17 meters for gold followed by Karuna Chand of Karnali for silver and Prakriti Kafle of Koshi for bronze.
Among six gold medals on offer in athletics on opening day, Karnali led the tally with two golds while Sudurpaschim, Gandaki, Madhesh and Lumbini each secured one gold medal.
