Kathmandu: The Nepalgunj 10 Night Run, originally scheduled for September 19, has been postponed indefinitely due to the ‘unfavorable national situation.’

In a statement issued Sunday, the Night Run Organising Committee said the event has been put on hold until further notice.

“Hundreds of professional athletes had already registered online, and inquiries were pouring in from many places. We are saddened to postpone at such a time. However, this is not a cancellation for the year—it will be held on a suitable date,” said TS Thakuri, one of the organisers.

Several sporting events have also been suspended or canceled following the Gen Z–led protests across the country on September 8 and 9. The demonstrations have already claimed at least 70 lives, left many critically injured, and caused property damage worth billions, including the destruction of iconic landmarks such as Singha Durbar.
