Nepali squad announced for WCL-2 UAE series

Kathmandu: Batsmen Bhim Sharki and Anil Sah along with left-arm spinner Shahab Alam have been named in Nepal’s national cricket team for the upcoming ICC World Cup League 2 (WCL-2) tri-nation series to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 26 to November 5.
In the 15-member squad announced by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Saturday, Sandeep Jora, Lokesh Bam, and Mohammad Adil Alam—who were part of Nepal’s victorious squad at the ICC T20 World Cup Asia and EAP Qualifiers in Oman—have been omitted. Nepal had won the qualifiers with a perfect unbeaten record, securing their place in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup finals.
Nepal will play two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) each against hosts UAE and the United States (USA) during the series. Nepal are scheduled to play against the USA on October 26 and November 1 while they will compete against UAE onOctober 28 and November 5 against the UAE. Matches will be staged at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the ICC Academy Ground.
In the ongoing three-year League 2 cycle involving eight teams, Nepal currently sit seventh with 16 points from 12 matches. Scotland lead the standings with 30 points from 24 games followed by the USA with 28 points from 20 matches. UAE are languishing at the bottom with just six points from 16 games.
Each team will play nine tri-series, totaling 36 matches across the League 2 campaign. The top four sides will directly qualify for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, while the bottom four will move to the Qualifier Playoffs.
