Rossington, Neesham guide Pokhara Avengers to 151 against Lumbini Lions

Kathmandu: Pokhara Avengers recovered from early hiccups to post a modest 151-run target against Lumbini Lions after opener Adam Rossington and middle-order batter James Neesham struck half-centuries in the Nepal Premier League on Saturday.

English wicketkeeper-batter Rossington slammed a composed 81 off 63, while Neesham played a quickfire unbeaten 51 off 32 as the Avengers finished on 150-5 at the TU Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur.

Sent in to bat first, the Kushal Bhurtel-led Avengers made a shaky start, losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Dinesh Kharel (7), captain Bhurtel (out for a golden duck), Sumeet Verma (duck) and Trit Raj Das (1) fell cheaply as the Avengers slumped to 33-4.

Rossington held firm, anchoring the innings with seven boundaries and five sixes. He also shared a 93-run stand for the fifth wicket with Neesham before being caught by Sher Malla off Tilak Bhandari.

Neesham finished strongly, hitting three fours and six sixes to guide the Avengers to the 150-run mark and score his maiden half century of the contest.

Both the Avengers and the Lions, led by national captain Rohit Paudel, came into the match seeking their second win. The Avengers sit sixth with one win from three matches, while Lumbini have one win and three losses from four games.
