Kathmandu: Mitranagar Rising Club (MRC) is set to organise the second edition of the MRC Futsal Tournament on December 20 and 21 at the Manang Marshyangdi Futsal Club in Samakhushi, Kathmandu.

The tournament is being organised in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives during the Gen Z movement in September.

According to MRC coordinator Sonam Tamang, around 40 to 50 teams are expected to participate in the event, which will be played in a league-cum-knockout format.

The champions will receive a cash prize of Rs100,000, while the runners-up will walk away with Rs50,555, along with trophies.

The total estimated cost of the tournament is around Rs900,000. “We have received support from non-resident Nepalis to make this event a success,” Tamang said, adding that any remaining funds will be utilised for social causes.
