Sankata, Army off to flying starts in Women’s League 

Kathmandu: Sankata FC Women’s Team and Tribhuvan Army Women’s Team were off to flying starts on the opening day of Martyrs Memorial Women’s ‘A’ Division League at the Chyasal Stadium in Lalitpur, Wednesday.  

Foreign recruits slammed all four goals for Sankata as they registered a resounding 4-0 victory over New Road Team (NRT) Women. 

Departmental giants Army struck five goals in the second half in their commanding five 5-0 thumping of Jhapa FC Women’s with Anjana Kulung Rai netting a late brace. 

Win Theingi Tun gave an early fifth minute lead to Sankata before Lucia Leila Jose Mocambique doubled the cushion in the 26th minute. Sukriya Miya made it 3-0 two minutes later as Sankata went into the break with a comfortable cushion of 3-0. Queenabel Akosua Amankrah sealed the victory with the fourth goal in the 52nd. 

Army were initially made to work hard for the breakthrough, which came in the 57th minute through Deepa Shahi. Hima Chaudhary doubled the lead in the 68th, before Anjana struck twice in quick succession in the 86th minute and the first minute of injury time to make it 4–0. Tulasa Bohara completed the rout in the sixth minute of seven minutes added on.

In Thursday’s fixtures, Bagmati Youth Club of Sarlahi will face RS Pokhara in the early match, while Nepal Police Club will take on Church Boys United in the later kickoff at Chyasal Stadium.
