Rekha, Meena lead Police to emphatic triumph in Women’s League

Kathmandu: Strikers Meena Deuba and Rekha Paudel scored two goals each as departmental giants Nepal Police Club Women’s Team kicked off their Martyrs Memorial Women’s League campaign in dominant fashion with a 5–0 drubbing of Church Boys United Women’s Team on Thursday.
Police signalled their intent early, with Meena netting twice in quick succession as they surged to a commanding 4–0 lead by halftime at Chyasal Stadium in Lalitpur. She opened the floodgates in the 12th minute and doubled the advantage six minutes later.
Nepali international forward Rekha Paudel added a third in the 42nd minute, while Amrita Jaisi struck just a minute later to further extend the lead.

Rekha completed her brace six minutes into the second half, sealing a comprehensive victory for Police.
In the day’s opening match, Bagmati Youth Club Women’s Team of Sarlahi edged RS Resort and Beach Football Women’s Team of Pokhara 5–4 in a high-scoring thriller.
There will be no matches on Friday and Saturday. Action resumes on Sunday, when defending champions APF Women’s Team begin their campaign against Bagmati Youth Club in the early fixture scheduled for an 11:00 kickoff.
The later match will see New Road Team take on Jhapa Women’s FC at 15:00, with both sides looking to bounce back after heavy defeats in their opening games.
