South African Nic Pothas appointed consultant coach

Kathmandu: South African cricketer Nic Pothas has been appointed as the consultant coach of the Nepali men’s national cricket team.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Thursday confirmed the appointment of the 51-year-old who has previously served as the interim coach of the West Indies team. He also worked as the fielding and interim coach for Sri Lanka. He has also served as the assistant coach for Bangladesh.

Nepal are currently undergoing preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Nation Series involving hosts Scotland and the Netherlands. The series is scheduled from June 2 to 12. Nepal will face Scotland on June 2 and 8, and the Netherlands on June 4 and 10.

Following an England tour, Nepal have already reached Scotland and they are scheduled to play two one-day practice matches against the Scotland ‘A’ team.

Nepal are languishing second from bottom in the eight-team League 2. They have earned six points after playing 12 matches across three series. Only the UAE is below Nepal in the standings.

He will assist Nepal’s newly appointed Australian coach Stuart Law.
