Rame Magar and team win Pro-Am
Kathmandu: Pro Rame Magar and team won Surya Nepal Challenge Pro-Am at the par-68 Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday.
Magar, drawn with amateurs Satya Jung Rana, Saroj Thapa and Anjila Yonjan, scored 124 points in total. Satya scored 44 points, Saroj 41 and Anjila 39 points.
Nepal No 1 pro Bhuvan Nagarkoti and his team of Rajendra Purush Dhakal, Mukti Send Gupta and Tara Karki Chitrakar finished second scoring 117 points. All three amateurs in the team scored 39 points.
Pro Ramesh Adhikari and amateurs Swapnil Bhattarai, Phuntsok Norbu Lama and Swadesh Gurung came third with a score of 114 points. Swapnil scored 39 points, Phuntsok 38 and Swadesh 37 points.
Anjila Yonjan produced the best card of the day in the women’s section with 39 points. She was tied with Tara Karki Chitrakar and finished first on count back.
Jhalendra Bhattarai won the longest drive award while Phuntsok Norbu Lama received the closest to the pin award. A total of 90 amateur golfers took part in the event. RNGC President Madhukar Yaktbumba, PGA Nepal President Rabindra Man Shrestha and RNGC Captain Mithun Rai handed over prizes to the winners.
Former Nepal No 1 pro Sukra Bahadur Rai won the main event on Friday with record 72-hole score of 17-under 255. A total of 47 golfers, 36 pros and 11 amateurs, participated in the seventh event under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25.
