Rahul takes sole lead going into final round

Kathmandu: Amateur Rahul Biswakarma took sole lead after third round of Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Wednesday.

Rahul carded 6-under 66 to post 54-hole total score of 16-under 200. He is one stroke ahead of defending champion Subash Tamang. Pro Subash carded bogey-free 5-under 67 for 15-under 201. Nepal No 1 amateur golfer Sadbhav Acharya carded 5-under 67 to remain at third place with total score of 13-under 203.

Niraj Tamang and Nepal No 1 pro Bhuvan Nagarkoti are tied for fourth at 11-under 205. Niraj carded 4-under 68 while Bhuvan produced the best card of the day scoring 8-under 64 to move up in the leaderboard.

Bhutanese amateur Nim Dorji Tamang is sixth overall and third among amateurs with a total score of 8-under 208. He carded 2-under 70 in the third round.

Dinesh Prajapati is seventh at 7-under 209 after he carded 4-under 68. Three pros — Sukra Bahadur Rai, Sanjay Lama and Rabi Khadka — are tied for eighth at 3-under 213. Sukra carded 3-under 69, Sanjay played 2-under 70 and Rabi finished the third round at 1-under 71.

Leader Rahul carded bogey-free 5-under 31 on the front nine and 1-under 35 on the back nine.

Subash, who plays in the Professional Golf Tour of India, took the turn at 3-under 33 and added 2-under 34 on the back nine.

A total of 37 pros and 18 amateur golfers are taking part in the eighth and final round of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25.
