Amateur Rahul claims Surya Nepal Premier golf

Kathmandu: Amateur golfer Rahul Biswakarma won the Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship at the par-72 Gokarna Golf Club on Thursday.

Rahul carded 5-under 67 in the final round for a total score of 21-under 267. He registered a two-stroke victory over Nepal No 1 pro Bhuvan Nagarkoti to claim second title of the season following the season-opening Surya Nepal Central Open.

Bhuvan carded second straight 8-under 64 for 72-hole total of 19-under 269 in the eighth and final event under Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2024-25,

He finished first among pros and received a cheque of Rs 300,000. Nepal No 1 amateur Sadbhav Acharya finished third overall and second among amateurs with a total score of 18-under 270. He carded 5-under 67 in the final round.

Defending champion Subash Tamang was fourth overall and second among pros with a total score of 15-under 273. He played even-par 72 in the final round and earned Rs 185,000.

Bhutan’s Nim Dorji Tamang came fifth overall and third among amateurs with a total score of 14-under 274. He carded 6-under 66 in the fourth round.

Niraj Tamang was third among pros and sixth overall at 10-under 278. He played 1-over 73 in the final round and earned Rs 125,000. Niraj finished the season at the top of the Order of Merit with a total earning of Rs 867,500 from eight tournaments and became No 1 pro. He won three titles in the season.

Dinesh Prajapati was seventh overall and fourth among pros and he received Rs 105,000. He carded 2-under 70 today for 9-under 279. Sukra Bahadur Rai came eighth overall and fifth among pros at 8-under 280 earning Rs 92,000. He carded 5-under 67 in the final round.

Sanjay Lama and amateur Wangchen Dhondup shared the ninth position at 3-under 285. Sanjay (72) was sixth among pros, and he received Rs84,000. Wangchen finished fourth among amateurs after he carded 2-under 70 in the final round. Rabi Khadka, Dhana Bahadur Thapa, Jayram Shrestha and Toran Bikram Shahi also finished in top 10 among pros.

The Pro-Am event is scheduled for June 21, and it will feature 30 professional golfers and 120 corporate-level amateurs in an engaging and competitive format designed to offer valuable exposure to emerging talents.
