Milan secures victory in fight night’s main event

Kathmandu: Nepal’s Milan Tamang clinched a victory in the main event of the Budhanilkantha Fight Night, a mixed martial arts game, on Friday evening. 

Milan knocked out Thailand’s Asada Rakmit in the second round of the men’s 60 kg category in Golfutar, Kathmandu. 

 In the men’s 52kg category, Yoman Moktan defeated compatriot Kunjan Ghimire while Puranjit Rai secured victory in men’s 54kd defeating India’s Skemborlang Marwn. 

The 70kg division saw Mahendra Gajmer beat fellow Nepali Ronish Subba. Guman Gharti Magar clinched victory in 57kg division outclassing India’s Baremron Daniel. In the 60kg fight, Nepal’s Gautam Thin saw off India’s Yaima Lai while Santosh Khatri of Nepal edged India’s Asem Tondonba in the 67kg division.

The event also featured bouts in the women’s category. In the 60kg division, Sarika Dhamala of Nepal triumphed over India’s Jenista Ningombom and the 51kg saw Nepal’s Susmita Thapa overcame Geeta Narjinari, also of India.

Altogether 18 fighters from Nepal, India, and Thailand competed in nine matches, with each bout featuring two athletes. Winners and runners-up of all nine categories were awarded with cash prizes.

The event was organized by the Budhanilkantha Hattigauda Sports Committee under technical support by Nepal National Muay Thai Association and managed by Galak Lifestyle.
