GoldenGate claim National Basketball League
Kathmandu: GoldenGate Basketball Club clinched the National Basketball League 2026 title with a commanding 95–74 victory over Tribhuvan Army Club in Saturday’s final.
Having beaten GoldenGate three times earlier in the tournament—twice in the league stage and once in the first qualifier—Army entered the final with strong momentum. However, GoldenGate rose to the occasion when it mattered most at the Dasharath Stadium covered hall.
GoldenGate dominated all four quarters, leading 24–14, 17–12, 27–25 and 27–23, to avenge their earlier defeats and secure the championship.

Jain Khan of GoldenGate was named Player of the Match for his standout performance in the final.
The champions received a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 400,000. The runners-up were awarded Rs 200,000, while the third-placed team took home Rs 100,000.
Times Basketball Club, champions of the inaugural edition, finished third this season.
GoldenGate’s Nikesh Khadgi Magar, who delivered consistent performances throughout the tournament, was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
A total of eight teams competed in the second edition of the league, organised by the Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA). The tournament followed a double round-robin format, featuring 56 matches, before the top four teams advanced to the playoffs.
