Invincible APF lifts ANFA Women’s League crown
Kathmandu: Departmental giants Nepal APF Club clinched ANFA Women’s League in dominant fashion defeating Nepal Police Club 4-0 in the final at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, Wednesday.
The invincible APF’s win marked a fitting end to APF’s remarkable season. They maintained unbeaten record to all 19 matches of the league and winning streak to 18 games following a 0-0 draw against Police in their inaugural match.

APF, however, struggled to make a breakthrough in the final before Sabita Rana Magar opened the floodgates in the 64th minute and added her second goal in the 83rd. Saru Limbu had made it 2-0 for APF and substitute Anu Lama sealed the victory with a stoppage time goal.
The first half saw APF control possession and maintain consistent pressure, though clear-cut chances proved elusive. Their patience paid off when Saru delivered a precise cross that Sabita converted with a one-touch finish to open the scoring.
Saru scored five minutes later, capitalising on a rebound after Renuka Nagarkote’s header struck the upright and landed to her. She calmly finished from the edge of the six-yard box. Sabita notched her second goal in the 83rd minute demonstrating her clinical finishing ability. Midfielder Preeti Rai provided a defense-splitting through ball as Sabita beat the advancing Police goalkeeper Usha Nath with a composed low strike.
The final moments of the match provided a fairytale ending for veteran player Anu Lama, who had entered as an 88th-minute substitute for Renuka in what would be her last official appearance. Lama seized upon a misplaced pass from goalkeeper Usha outside the penalty area and finished with composure to conclude her career with a memorable goal putting the final touch on APF’s comprehensive victory.
The result not only secured APF’s league title but also stamped their authority in women’s football, having maintained an impressive unbeaten streak. They scored 102 goals and conceded just six goals throughout the season.
