Pushparaj Memorial Table Tennis from February 6
Kathmandu: The inaugural edition of the Pushparaj Memorial National Table Tennis Tournament is set to take place from February 6 to 8 in Sankhamul, Lalitpur-11.
The tournament will feature over 150 players, informed Rajeshwar Maharjan, the general secretary of the Pushparaj Memorial Table Tennis Tournament Main Organizing Committee, at a press conference held on Monday.
Matches will be played under artificial lights at the Eleven Star Club during the evenings. The competition will include men’s singles, women’s singles, veteran men’s singles above 40 years category, above 50 years category and above 60 years category along with U-16 category exclusively for residents of Lalitpur-11.
The champions of men’s and women’s singles will get Rs30,000 each and the runners up will walk away with Rs15,000 each. The losing Semi-finalists will get Rs7,500 each. The top three finishers of other categories will get Rs10,000, Rs5,000 and Rs2,500 respectively.
The tournament will be conducted with technical support from the Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association, which will provide both technical personnel and the necessary equipment.
Meanwhile, Lalitpur Municipality-11 has inked the sponsorship deal for the tournament. Municipality President Aroj Kumar Khadgi and the event’s Deputy Coordinator Nadim Ratna Shakya formalized the sponsorship deal, under which Lalitpur-11 will contribute Rs 850,000 to support the event.
