KATHMANDU: Newton and Greenland secured victories in the junior boys’ category of the first Fairyland Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Wednesday.

Newton defeated Himalaya 28-16 with Newton’s Ashish Rai scoring 11 points, in the event organized by Fairyland International School. Greenland defeated St Joseph 15-12 with eight points coming from Bishwas KC.

In the Junior Boys’ category, Basundhara National Academy (BNA) edged Peak Point 35-25, e Kingdom Himalayan defeated Gurukul 51-28. BNA’s Suprin Basnet scored 10 points, and Kingdom’s Sajan Lama scored 12 points.

In the junior girls’ category, Newton defeated St Joseph 26-14, Boudha Children Heaven beat Manjari 37-22, Greenland saw off Loyalty Academy 17-12 and NCCS defeated Apex Life 24-17. Newton’s Arena Rana scored 18 points, Boudha’s Jasmin Gurung scored 12, Greenland’s Jenny Magar scored 6 and NCCS’s Siona Shrestha scored 6 points.
