Marvellous clinch National School Chess

Kathmandu: Marvellous English Boarding School (MEBS) emerged victorious in the Annapurna National School Chess Championship, jointly organised by Nepal Chess Federation and Annapurna School, that concluded on Monday.

MEBS clinched the title with a total of 45 points in the event that featured age group competition in U-9, U-11, U-13 and above 13 years age categories.

The tournament saw competition from 75 schools with a total of 550 participants.

Manakamana School claimed second place with 40 points while Triyog High School secured third position with 38 points.

Meanwhile, Kashim Karki of Kathmandu Pragya Kunj, Anmol Rai of Valley Public High School and Harshvardhan Rathi of DAV School finished in top three positions respectively in boys’ above 13 years age category. The girls’ above 13 years age category saw Precious Adhikari of Manakamana School, Ananya Saiju of Suryodaya and Nelisa Ojha of Kathmandu Pragya Kunj earn top three honors.

In the boys’ U-13 category, Dipan Mainali of Asian Public School, Oscar Panthi Pathshala Nepal Foundation and Brij Nandan Jha of MEBS secured top three places.

The girls’ U-13 category saw Meghana Adhikari of Manakamana School, Pariyecha Bolakha of Nitin Memorial School and Paridhi Khatri of Triyog earn top three

Yogesh Khadka, the chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No 27, and Annapurna School principal Chandra Prakash Rajbhandari among other distributed prizes to the winners of the four-day event.
