Shrestha appointed Australia Taekwondo Para Community member 

Kathmandu: Nepali origin taekwondo practitioner Shishir Shrestha has officially been appointed as a board member of the Australia Taekwondo Para Community. 

With over two decades of experience in taekwondo, Shrestha has served in different roles in the martial arts including player, coach and referee. Shrestha is a certified first class referee, first class international coach and third class International Master among others.

He is also the bronze medalist of the 2024 Australian Open G2 World Taekwondo Championships in men’s under 30 age group team poomsae event. He was also a bronze medalist at the 2019 South Asian Games representing Nepal. 

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Shrestha and serves as an inspiring example for athletes of Nepali descent in Australia.

Following his appointment Shrestha said, “It is not just a personal achievement, but an opportunity to make Taekwondo accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for all. The foundation of my Taekwondo career was built on the invaluable training and support provided by Nepal Taekwondo Association. I will always be grateful to my mentors there.”
