IOC-backed Wushu coaching course begins Sunday

Kathmandu: Nepal is all set to host the National Wushu Coaches’ Technical Course for the first time in international Wushu history in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The five-day course, organised by the Nepal Wushu Federation (NWF), begins Sunday in Kathmandu with 65 coaches participating from all seven provinces and departmental teams.

International Wushu Federation experts — Professor Lin Xiaomei (Taolu) and Ye Wei (Sanda) — will lead the training. Six coaches from India are also joining.

According to NWF general secretary Lakpa Tsering, the course aims to update Nepali coaches on modern technical changes, 2024 regulations, and international standards, which officials say will support Nepal’s performance in upcoming events including the 20th Asian Games, Junior World Championships and Youth Olympics.

The program opens Sunday at the Earthquake Memorial Multipurpose Hall in Dallu and concludes on December 11 at Royal Singi Hotel in Durbar Marg.
