Nepal women’s football coach De Wilde resigns
Kathmandu: Nepal national women’s football team head coach Patrick De Wilde has formally resigned from his position following a dispute with the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
A senior ANFA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that De Wilde submitted his resignation via email a few days ago.
The UEFA Pro License holder Belgian had expressed his frustration with ANFA over their lack of professionalism and treatment of the team, particularly after Nepal’s elimination from the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in Uzbekistan.
In an interview with The Kathmandu Post published on July 8, De Wilde made it clear that he had no intention of returning to Nepal.
The 61-year-old had returned to Belgium from Uzbekistan following Nepal’s penalty shootout defeat against Uzbekistan in the decisive group-stage match. Prior to the loss, Nepal had recorded a 9-0 victory over Laos and 8-0 against Sri Lanka in the Qualifiers.
