Nepal to mark international debut at Ice Skating Championships 

Kathmandu: Nepal is set to make its international debut in ice skating, with six Nepali skaters competing in the Short Track Speed Ice Skating Championships to be held in Dehradun, India, from December 27 to 29.

According to Achyut Khanal, president of the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association, Ramesh Moktan and Arun Khatwe will compete in the men’s 1,000m event. Pari Guragain and Alka Ghimire will represent Nepal in the junior women’s 500m category while Xavier Jung Thapa and Sayon Aryal will take part in the junior men’s 250m event.

Sanju Shrestha will accompany the team as the team manager while the Association’s general secretary Satya Thapa will serve as an official.

The championship is being organised by the Ice Skating Association of India in collaboration with the Asian Ice Skating Union (ASU) and the International Skating Union (ISU). The event will be held at the Himadri Ice Skating Rink at the Maharana Pratap Sports Complex in Dehradun.

Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha bade farewell to the Nepali contingent. He wished for their success and congratulated the team on Nepal’s maiden appearance at the international level.
