U-14 National School Games begins Sunday
Kathmandu: National Sports Council (NSC) has announced that the U-14 National School Games will commence on Sunday.
Organised to showcase emerging talent, the event provides a platform for promising school-level athletes to compete and excel, according to NSC.
Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday, NSC Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising confirmed the participation of 476 athletes representing all seven provinces. These athletes were selected through district and provincial qualifying rounds.
The Games will feature six sports including athletics, basketball, badminton, rugby, and table tennis for both boys and girls, while cricket will be held only for boys in the T20 format.
Athletics will include six events each for boys and girls. Table tennis will have two events each while basketball will be played in the 3×3 format in boys and girls section. Rugby Sevens will also feature competitions in both boys and girls categories. Badminton will consist of two events each for boys and girls.
A total of 83 medals will be awarded, including 25 gold, 25 silver, and 33 bronze, recognising outstanding performances across all categories.
Athletics and rugby will be held at Dasharath Stadium, table tennis at the National Table Tennis Training Centre in Lainchaur, basketball at the NSC Covered Hall in Tripureshwar, badminton at Budhanilkantha, and cricket at Mulpani.
The events will be held from June 8 to 12.
