Anti-Doping seminar held at Tribhuvan University

Kathmandu: Dr. Ashim Bhandari, founding coordinator of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA Nepal), conducted an anti-doping seminar for Master’s level students of Sports Science at Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, on Tuesday.

Organised by the Department of Sports Management at TU, the seminar aimed to raise awareness about the global battle against performance-enhancing drugs in sports. Dr. Bhandari, who also serves as a member at the Medical and Sports Science Committee of the Asian Paralympic Committee, shed light on the 11 officially recognised Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs) and emphasised the importance of aligning with international standards.

He warned that Nepal could face serious consequences if it continues to overlook the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code, the global standard for clean sport.

“Clean sport is no longer a choice—it is a necessity,” Dr. Bhandari stated. “Delaying action will not only endanger our athletes but could lead to international embarrassment. The reputation of the entire nation is at stake.”
