Tara clinches Nepal Women’s Open golf 

Kathmandu: Tara Karki Chitrakar clinched Nepal Women’s Open Golf Tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday.

She scored 37 points to claim the overall trophy and received an electric scooter and gift voucher worth Rs 25,000 from Arshiya Couture. Fellow national team member Samjhana Khatri finished runner up with 36 points. She also received a trophy and gift hamper. Samjhana also won the most birdies award with three birdies.

Avanie Rai claimed the U-19 section trophy with 34 points. Sandhya Rai won the senior section title with 26 points and Kalyani Moktan finished first in the super senior category with 13 points. Parbati Subedi and Anjali Yonjan won the best front nine and back nine awards respectively. Parbati scored 18 points and Anjali 19 points.

Other winners of the tournament included Juny Gurung (longest drive), Balkashi Gurung (closest to the pin), Anjalika Sinha (straight drive), Riju Rai (best sportsmanship) and Sapana Malla Pradhan (lucky draw). Parbati Subedi, Urmila Nagarkoti, Subhani Bhatta, Kamala Rai and Nirjala Shrestha were awarded as top five caddie players and they received cash prizes sponsored by Gita Gurung.

Meanwhile, top 10 golfers qualified for the second and final round of the tournament to be played on Sunday. Tara Karki Chitrakar, Samjhana Khatri, Anjali Yonjan, Avanie Rai, Parbati Subedi, Ranu Baniya, Sushma Singh, Sumitra Limbu, Sandhya Rai and Devi Pulami Magar will play the final 18 holes.
