Aarabh, Abhilasha secure mixed doubles gold
Kathmandu: The duo of Aarabh Samrat Hada and Abhilasha Bista emerged victorious in the mixed doubles of the 11th Citizens Bank Tennis Tournament in Kathmandu on Friday.
Aarabh and Abhilasha saw off pair of Sakshyam Bikram Shah and Nala Maskey in straight sets of 6–4, 6–3 to secure gold.
Jitendra Pariyar secured twin golds—in the veterans men’s singles and doubles above 35. Jitendra fought back to edge Santosh Khatri 2–6, 6–1, 10–5 in a three-set thriller to claim singles gold. He paired with Imal Dixit in doubles to beat the pair of Santosh and Chewang Lama 6–3, 6–4.
In the men’s singles above 45, Kamal Bahadur Bhandari saw off Rohit Sunuwar with a commanding 6–1, 6–4 score. Chandra Shahi won the men’s singles above 55 defeating Bimal Kumar Gurung 6–4, 7–5.
The event organised by Kathmandu District Tennis Association (KDTA) will see men’s and women’s singles final on Saturday. Aarabh Samrat Hada will vie against Nisan Shrestha and Abhilasha Bista will take on Swastika Bista in the men’s and women’s singles showdowns.
