Phuntsok N Lama clinch Carlsberg Golf Classic
The winners of Carlsberg Golf Classic.
Kathmandu: Phuntsok N Lama claimed Carlsberg Golf Classic at Gokarna Forest Resort Golf Club on Saturday.
Lama, a two handicap player, earned 42 stableford points, to lift the title and win a trip to Copenhagen, Denmark. Lama carded five birdies and an eagle which also earned him the most birdies award. Tashi Tshiring also matched the feat with five birdies and an eagle, but Lama secured the award on countback.
Namgyal T Lama finished runner-up with 40 points while Tashi Tshiring clinched best gross award posting 41 gross points.
Gita Gurung claimed the women’s category trophy defeating Sumitra Khadka on countback after both golfers were tied on 25 points. Gita’s 13 points on the back nine proved decisive against Sumitra’s eight points. Sumitra was awarded the runner-up trophy.
In the senior category aged 60 years and above, Arjun Kumar Karki emerged winner with 33 points. Prakash Gurung won the longest drive and Chewang Sherpa closest to the pin.
Altogether 100 golfers participated in the event.
