Employee Sports Championships to begin Wednesday
Kathmandu: Employee Sports Academy Nepal (ESAN) are set to organise the 14th Employee Sports Championships from June 4 to 11 in the capital.
Organising a press conference in Tripureshwar on Tuesday, ESAN president Ram Binaya Shrestha said that the championships will feature events in futsal, badminton and table tennis in men’s and women’s sections.
Employees from 17 different organisations under partial and full ownership of the Nepal Government, banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, telecom and airline companies among others will participate in the event.
The men’s futsal will feature 15 teams while women’s futsal will include four. Badminton will see competitions in men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, veterans singles and doubles above the 45 years age, executive doubles (ninth grade and above). The table tennis will see competitions in men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles and executive singles (ninth grade and above). Altogether 318 players will compete in badminton and table tennis games.
The winners will be awarded trophies, medals and certificates in addition to cash prizes. The expected cost of the event is Rs1.5 million.
