Kathmandu: Nepal Super League (NSL) side Pokhara Thunders has named Nepali international forward Ayush Ghalan as their captain for the third season of the franchise based tournament. 

Issuing a press statement on Monday, Thunders announced that they have named last edition’s marquee player as their captain. Thunders had recruited Ayush through talent hunt for the first edition of the tournament held in 2021.

Ayush had scored twice in the last season of the NSL played from November 24 to December 30, 2023. “I thank Pokhara Thunders for putting trust in me and I will try my best for the success of the team,” he was quoted as saying. 

Earlier, Pokhara has named Suman Shrestha as their coach. Thunders had crashed out from the eliminator in the last edition of Nepal Super League.

The auction for the third edition of the franchise based Nepal Super League will take place on February 22. Organisers Nepal Sports and Event Management are yet to announce the date of the tournament that will feature seven franchise sides.
